Created in the summer of 2007 the Championship standard Carrick Course at Cameron House has been a great success.
Architect Doug Carrick may be relatively unheard of outside his native Canada, but he has designed and remodelled over fifty courses including King Valley, Angus Glen, Coble Beach and Eagles Nest. His first design in the UK, at Cameron House, Loch Lomond was then named after him.
The front nine holes are played over reltively flat, open land at the boundary of the Lowlands in Scotland and the back nine are routed over higher gound in the Scottish Highlands before returning to the clubhouse by the loch side.
Water runs down the length of the fairways on the opening four holes giving the course a somewhat American feel and a testing par five with no fewer than fifteen bunkers to contend with will really test your accuracy. There is a superb photo opportunity of the Loch found at the signature hole's fourteenth tee, some sixty feet high. The views really take your breath away.
Some of the holes run along the waters edge although the lock never really comes into play. The closing hole doglegs right to the clubhouse where you can enjoy a refreshing drink at the end of your round at this fantastic course.
