Real Club de Golf de las Palmas

 

 

Gran Canaria enjoys the distinction of housing the oldest golf club in Spain, Real Club de Las Palmas. Inaugurated on 17th December 1891 on a site known as 'Lomo del Polvo', in 1956 the club was transferred to the plains of Bandama, situated close to an extinct volcano with a diameter of 800m and a depth of 200 m.  This is a testimony to the volcanic origins of Gran Canaria some 14 million years ago.

 

Major International players have commented that the course is exceptional, Real Club de Las Palmas has hosted many professional tournaments in the past.  In principle, the club is only open to members, however vistitors are permitted on weekday mornings.  So book early to get your required tee-time!

The course has wonderful views and spectacular, deep ravines. Watch out for the 2nd hole in particular where a careless shot could send your ball down the ravine that runs alongside the fairway!
