Designed by Ramón Espinosa, one of the most prestigious golf architects, the new Alboran Course in Almeria is just 10km from the city centre. The Club has a 6,278 metre long, 18-hole par-72 Championship course designed to meet the needs of both high and low handicappers and is a welcome addition to the courses in Almeria.
The designer has successfully created an important balance between the holes, as regards both the length, the orientation and location of the various elements that make up the course such as bunkers, streams and lakes, offering an enjoyable game of golf on a challenging course. Alboran has no less than 66 bunkers strategically placed around the course, so don't be too surprised if you spend some time in the sand!
Respect for the environment was a key factor when designing the course and when choosing the plant species. Palm trees, olive trees, pine trees, prickly pears, pitas, etc. form the majority of the arboreal species used, to avoid the visual impact of a semi-desert environment and the water hazrads are used as natural spillways for rainfall aswell as to improve the aesthetics of the course.
